Humans aren’t the only ones seeing their jobs change during the pandemic. Canines with the certified therapy dog reading program that were accustomed to snuggling up with children to read, have now found themselves looking at a computer screen instead. The Tutors with Tails program is now offering online sessions for kids looking to practice their reading skills.

Although interactions take place over webcams, nothing else about the program has changed. The children still enjoy one-on-one time with a dog, that, without judgement, listens to them read aloud. Both the students and dog teams have missed meeting in person, but a pandemic isn’t going to stop the huge smiles and tail wagging that has made this program such a success.
