Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering makes a difference—no matter how much time you can give. Whether it’s weekly time in the classroom, monthly board service, or sharing your professional skills, your involvement helps address the growing academic, social, and emotional needs of students and families in our Gig Harbor, Peninsula, and South Kitsap communities.
Academic Mentoring – Support student learning, either individually or in mentoring groups, under the direction of CISP staff or PSD/SKSD staff in an Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) classroom. Volunteers support AVID students by leading small-group tutorials, encouraging critical thinking, and helping build organization and study skills. They also serve as positive role models, offering guidance and motivation for college and career success.. Mentoring Programs Weekly Schedule – Click Here
College Admission and Application Assistance – Assist high school students with essay writing, standardized test preparation, financial assistance, and college readiness.
Tutors with Tails Therapy Dog Reading Program –
Support children with literacy and social-emotional skills, along with CISP staff. Participate in story time for young readers. In this program, certified dog therapy teams partner with students who need an extra boost in reading. Dog teams must be certified by a national therapy dog organization such as Pet Partners, Inc. or Therapy Dogs International. (Learn More… click on the link below)
