Volunteer Opportunities Fall 2020

Join the CISP Volunteer Team, as our organization pivots to support the growing academic and social-emotional challenges faced by kids and families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Virtual Academic Mentoring – Support student learning, either individually or in mentoring groups, under direction of PSD and/or CISP staff.

Food & Basic Needs Delivery – Help deliver food, meals, basic need supplies, and academic tools to families in Gig Harbor and on the Key Peninsula. Must be done in groups of two for safety purposes.

Facilitate Outdoor & Virtual Resiliency Groups – Attend virtual or outdoor resiliency groups to re-connect with disengaged middle or high school students with PSD and/or CISP staff

Pen Pal Program – Connect with elementary age students via Pen Pal letters.

College Admission and Application Assistance – Assist high school students with essay writing, standardized test preparation, financial assistance, and college readiness.

Passport Reading Program – Assist CISP staff by assembling and distributing program materials.

Tutors with Tails Therapy Dog Reading Program – 

  • Support children virtually with literacy and social-emotional skills, along with CISP staff.
  • Participate in virtual story time read-along videos for young readers. In this program certified dog therapy teams’ partner with students who need extra boost in reading.  Dog teams must be certified by a national therapy dog organization such as Pet Partners, Inc. or Therapy Dogs International.

Be a Leader in Your Community

Volunteer to be on a committee or on the Board of Directors! We are lucky to have the leadership and support many generous individuals who donate their time as Board of Directors and Committee members. If you have talent or interest in any of the following areas and want to volunteer your time, fill out the volunteer interest form and we’ll contact you about the process! Committees include Marketing/PR, Events, Finance and Fundraising.
